March Meeting Photos!

Finally! Photos from our meeting last week...
Shauna's first quilt (made several years ago)
Roxanne's Birthday Fat Quarters (I-Spys)
Lori's 9-Patch Quilt (called Molly's Topper) for her grandbaby Janie's room. It matches the crib set she made for her. I'll have to post that too. SO CUTE!
Shari's finished blocks that we made for her. Didn't they turn out cute? I can't wait to see what they look like sewn around the center panel block she showed us last month!
This awesome book is a Quilter's must-have. It's filled with information that every quilter wishes she had memorized.
This is another little reference book shared by Lori. They use it at a lot of quilt shops to figure out yardage and other quick calculations.
Here is our sweet little honorary quilt group member, Jane. She had a great time jumping at Bobbi's house. Yes, this is about the oldest Johnny Jumper I've ever seen. It's in perfect condition and still in the original box. Isn't Bobbi amazing!?

Thanks Bobbi for a great evening filled with fun and great dessert! She made brownies with Mr. Goodbar melted on top and delicious Snickerdoodles (my personal favorite!).

March 2009 Meeting

Q2 March Meeting
at Bobbi’s Home

Welcome to our newest member Shauna B! It was so nice to meet and chat with her at this month’s quilt group. We’re excited to get to know her better and see all the amazing quilts she’s made. Thanks for joining us, Shauna!

Happy Birthday Roxanne on March 22nd! Roxanne’s fat quarter choice was I-spy fabric. If you missed the meeting, please remember to bring Roxanne’s fabric to the next meeting.

Next months birthdays are Lori (3rd), Judy (16th), and Wendy (17th)! Remember to bring their birthday fat quarters in April!

Lori & Wendy would like Polka Dots in Rainbow Colors (not neon, dusty/grayed, or pastel colors) like blues, greens, pinks, even black & whites and browns.

Judy – Somthing Blue.

Although Bobbi was our impromptu hostess, for whom we are SO grateful, we will still be doing Bärbel’s Hostess quilt this month and Bobbi’s in July. Bärbel is making a Halloween Quilt and would like us to make Halloween blocks for her. They can be any size you want as long as the finished block size is divisible by 2 (for example an unfinished block could measure 6 ½ x 6 ½, 12 ½ x 10 ½, 8 ½ x 14 ½, etc.). Have fun, be creative, and think Halloween!

The American Hero Quilt Show was a success! The goal was to raise about $3000 and they more than doubled it by raising just over $7300! Thanks so much to all those who helped in any way.

Inspired by the previously mentioned quilt show, we decided as a group to make a quilt top to donate to the cause. Each of us will be making 2 – 12 ½” blocks using Americana fabrics (red, blue and cream) and any design you choose, and 2 – 12 ½” squares of a light color (cream, light gold, etc.), small print is fine but should read as a solid. Please bring your blocks to our May 14th meeting (at Kim’s House). We’re so excited to be able to help out, even in a small way, with the wonderful soldiers who will be comforted by this quilt.

Assignments:
· Birthday Fat Quarters (x3!)
· Bärbel’s Halloween Hostess Block
· Americana Quilt Blocks (at May meeting)
· Plus any missed birthday fabric or hostess blocks

Quilt Group is at Laurie’s House in April.

Wendy's Yummy Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:
Chicken Breasts
Barilla Green & Black Olive Pasta Sauce
Pasta, cooked
Parmesan Cheese

Directions:
Pour sauce over chicken breasts and bake at 350° for about 25 minutes or until chicken is done. Can be served over pasta and topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese.

February 2009 Meeting

Q2 February Meeting
at Shari’s Home

SHARI - Shari is the first to start out our new “Hostess of the Month” quilt project. She picked a darling panel for the center of her quilt (see photo) and we’re completing it by making two star block from the charms she passed out (the pattern is included with the fabric). If you weren’t able to make it to Shari’s, your charms were sent home with someone else to be delivered to you. Make sure you complete them and bring them to the next quilt meeting so Shari can finish her cute quilt!

Shari also showed off 2 quilt tops she finished! The first was a super cute flannel baby quilt and the second a darling snowman panel quilt. GREAT JOB SHARI!!!

KIM – I brought my 9-patch quilt top, in pieces.

WENDY – Wendy brought her 9-patch quilt, which turned out really, really cute! She also shared a chicken recipe which sounds delicious – we’ll all have to try it!

BOBBI – Bobbi also brought her 9-patch quilt. It turned out great – and I think it’s the biggest of them all!

ROXANNE – Bärbel brought Roxanne’s 9-patch. It looks great! We can’t wait to see it completed! We missed you this month!

BÄRBEL – Bärbel brought her 9-patch baby quilt and showed us the fabric for the next 2 she’s going to make. Really, really cute idea!

LAURIE – Laurie’s 9-patch quilt – very cool pattern! Check out the photos, it turned out beautifully! She also brought an antique Lone Star quilt that she bought for a steal of a deal! We were all a little jealous of that.

JUDY – Judy was binding her last I-Spy quilt and we made her show it off before she sent it off to her sister. The earth tone fabrics she used around the bright I-Spy squares was really neat! It really made the blocks pop. She also made two 9-patch quilts! One is a bigger version of a cute little spring wall hanging she made many years ago – it’s going to be a table topper! She had a great idea of how to use the rest of your 2 ½ inch strips – use them together to make a really cute border – check hers out! The other quilt, also darling, used the 9-patches and white hourglass blocks.
LORI – We missed you! We would all like you to bring your magic little blue quilt book to quilt group next month (the one with all the quilting tricks). And we can’t wait to see your 9-patch quilt top!

SUNNY – We missed you too! We brought your B-day fat quarters to Shari’s, hopefully they’ve made there way to you. You’ll probably get a few more next month from those who missed. We saw a preview of your 9-patch quilt at our October meeting…we’re all anxiously awaiting the finished product!

Thanks so much Shari for having us at your home. The lemon meringue pie was great – we truly enjoyed ourselves.
